Scuba diving the USAT Liberty wreck Tulamben, Bali
Scuba diving the USAT Liberty wreck Tulamben, Bali.
Off shore diving in Bali’s Tulamben bay, the USAT Liberty shipwreck is listed as one of the world’s best wreck dives and sure enough it is… I must admit, I was pretty impressed by the size, the ship itself is spread out along a great distance and at various depths providing opportunities for most divers.
With the amount of colourful fish swimming around the area I felt like I was somewhere similar to the great barrier reef and it was not to packed with tourist, thank goodness. The bow of the ship gives a great shadowy moody appearance, the sheer size was impressive. Along the entire surface there are various sea creature making a home, and often darting around.
Other areas have broken apart or are in large chunks what seem like the size of a small bus, with fish and sea life abundant in this area I really wish I had more than just one dive at this site, I felt I could dive here many times and see something new every time. Next time I should just dive the ship every day!
I am sure there are many great dive sites in Bali to explore, I am only to eager to see them all, if only I had the time. With such abundant sea life at the USAT Liberty wreck it suggests to me that Bali is a great place for diving and I need to explore it much more.
Tulamben bay is on the opposite side to well-known Kuta, the dive site itself is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Kuta on the scuba duba doo bus.
If you would like to know more about this dive you can check out dive center Bali or as they call it scuba duba doo, they took me and I had a great time.
